In her youth, Allyson Krowitz was one of Europe's top runway fashion models. Now she focuses on the beauty of painting, focusing on the mystery and lushness of the tropics. At the age of 21, Krowitz moved to France. While living and working in Paris, she became one of Europe's top runway fashion models and simultaneously studied the work of Chardin, Corot, and the French Impressionists. After six years, she returned to the United States to focus on the beauty of painting. She has undertaken large-scale private and commercial custom commissions, with an emphasis on fluidly rendered paintings that evoke the lush and mysterious allure of the tropics. She presently lives and works in Miami Beach, and exhibits at the Embler Art Gallery in Fort Lauderdale and at Kiley Court Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Lush Birds of Paradise grow in the garden outside Allyson's studio window, inspiring her to paint this piece early one morning when the sunlight had just emerged. At that moment, this single flower looked like a bird ready to take flight, and that quality of movement is what she wanted to capture. Indeed she did, as this flower seems to hover, alive in radiant and gorgeous color.
