  • Artist: David Dauncey

The English countryside fills Dauncey's mind with the image of riding a bicycle around the rhubarb fields until his mother would yell at him back to the homestead. As a child, enamored by the promise of artistic creation, he ventured to the Tate Gallery in London, waved a pencil too closely to a Salvador Dali painting, and was lectured by an angry security guard. Today, people are still talking. He paints English bowler hats, even finds beauty in the simplicity of typewriters. His interests include the Second World War, his vintage truck, and entertaining his biggest fan, tickling his son Jack.
