Picasso claimed that "Art is the elimination of the unnecessary," and here Kim Coulter strips away details to reveal an artful study of the female form at its most elemental. Economy of line gives way to a generous slash of color, in the bold red dress and in the gradated yellow tones of the legs. This striking image has a stark beauty and intimacy all its own.

Kim Coulter

Like her art, Coulter's training has been as intensive as it is impressive. She began her formal training at the University of Texas, received her BA in Art Therapy from the College of New Jersey, and then continued her postgraduate work at the Art Institute of Southern California. She has participated in workshops with notable artists Ray Vinella, Martin Linville, Don Ward, and Gay Faulkenbury. Inspired by the early California Impressionists, Coulter paints "en plein aire" (in the open air). Twice a year, she packs up her paints and travels across the continent to capture the beautiful vistas. She says she paints this way because “the wind shifts, the light and shadows move, and I have to work quickly to capture the fleeting moment. I like to create a feeling of peace and reflect nature in full bloom." While Coulter enjoys working in a representational style, she has begun exploring a more contemporary direction in her most recent paintings. “Giving the impression of something familiar along with a ‘soft’ abstract approach has proved to be an enjoyable process for me as an artist," she says. ... Our Satisfaction Guarantee

Your complete satisfaction is our guarantee. We inspect our artwork in every step of the finishing process, then carefully pack each piece, to make sure it reaches you in the finest condition. This is backed by our 30 day return policy, an in-home trial, if you will. Live with the artwork for 30 days, if you are unsatisfied, for any reason, you may return the artwork back to us.

You'll be responsible for the shipping costs and the artwork needs to be in "like-new" condition. Hang on to the box and original packing materials until you know you're satisfied with your selection. We will issue a refund for the purchase after we receive the piece back into our gallery and give it a quick onceover.
