Brouillette spent a quarter of a century making people laugh, cry, and smile: she worked as a designer and art director for the greeting card industry. For nearly a decade now, she has been an artist and teacher, working in mixed media and acrylic on canvas and watercolor paper. Besides honing her craft and sharpening her artistic vision, she teaches painting classes, workshops, and judges art shows. She has studied with her father, Al Brouillette, Ed Whitney, and Katherine Chang Liu.

Maureen Brouillette enjoys combining her own photography with acrylic paint, found paper collage and gestural line-work to create a graphic, somewhat abstract painting. The BNSF series was inspired by her love of grid patterns and stripes. Her photos of warehouses, railroad cars and other industrial elements were the perfect components for this composition. Just for fun, she played with the complimentary colors of green and red for additional visual excitement.
