Like a journalist, Tatara documents the settings of dynamic culture. Growing up in Western Hungary, he sketched neighbors' rooftops, cobblestone paths, and apartment dwellings. Today, the vision of Tatara's artwork parallels that of early American "plein aire" artists who explored their environments. "Watercolor has such an ability to create moods of atmosphere, both exotic and familiar, and each completely unique to that moment's circumstances," he says. Tatara illustrates the beauty in the subdued color combinations of a cityscape while capturing the state of flux that our civilization knows so well.
