Our Art Consultants

Our Art Consultants work under the Direction of Nick Nichols, Design Director and Co-Founder of New Era Portfolio and Art for Business.

Nick Nichols' fascination with the world of art began at the age of 11 when he lost himself in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City - consequently losing his parents too. "I remember my father screaming at me, and my mom hugging me until she cried. Apparently they thought that I had made a beeline into Manhattan. Ironically, I never left the museum. I wandered around for hours and sat on the floor looking up at students as they sketched the works in front of them. This fascinated me. My love of contemporary art really began there."

Nick left his integral role at an international art publishing house to co-found New Era with entrepreneur Joe Garcia. Through their combined efforts, New Era Portfolio and Art for Business have grown to become one of the largest fine art companies in the world. Nick's responsibilities include artist recruitment, art development.

A wide range of leading style and trend-makers from art buyers to designers and architects consult with Nick. Through these discussions and tireless research, Nick constantly seeks out the current color, lifestyle, home fashion and design trends that influence our portfolio selecting and directing the artwork to be current, functional and timeless.

Frequently Asked Questions to Nick:

What are the most important guidelines to consider when buying fine art?

The most important thing for them to consider is whether or not you like the piece. First and foremost, you should always go with something that appeals to you. Secondly, make sure you select the right size to fit the space where the art will be displayed.

What are the current trends in art that I should consider?

The current trends nationally... tend to be contemporary artwork, that goes from coast to coast. And north to south. We see a big trend in canvas product, and particularly oversized large format imagery. We see in terms of colors, the trends have been moving and are continuing to move into the cool colors such as blues, cool greens, cool yellows and with accents in some of the spice tones, cinnamon, pumpkin, rusty reds, corals.
