Michael was born in New Haven, Connecticut and attended art school in Northern Massachusetts, graduating in 2006 with a BFA in painting. He has spent most of his adult life in or around Boston and currently works out of his home studio in Dedham, MA. In his current work, he has begun to experiment with a more abstract style using acrylics on canvas after a long period of creating work that could described as representational realism, strictly using oil on wood panels. The use of bright, fast-drying acrylic colors has been liberating and allowed him to delve into his long standing appreciation of the Impressionists as well as more contemporary artists who straddle the line between representational and abstract. His subject matter for this body of work mainly consists of wildlife, floral imagery and both local and exotic landscapes. He has had work included in numerous group shows in and around Boston and has hundreds of pieces in personal collections across the globe.
